Donald Trump crashed the annual dinner where journalists in Washington, DC join celebrities and White House staff for a night of comedy, awards and camaraderie.
The former president said this year’s dinner, which aired live on C-SPAN, was “really bad” and claims President Joe Biden’s comments were “an absolute disaster.”
Trump, 77, has a long history with White House Correspondents’ Association dinners. He decided to skip the event when he was president and his relationship with mainstream media and journalists soured.
In 2011, Trump attended the dinner and then-President Barack Obama mocked his role on the reality show The Apprentice. Many believe the incident contributed to Trump’s decision to run for president in 2016.

Trump has a long history with the WHCA dinner. Some credit then-President Barack Obama’s roasting of Trump at the 2011 dinner with contributing to his decision to run for president in 2016.
On Saturday night, the former president’s daughter-in-law, Lara Trump, who is now co-chair of the Republican National Committee (RNC), attended as a guest of Politico.
“The White House Correspondents’ Dinner was really bad,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social account.
‘Colin Jost BOMBED and Crooked Joe was an absolute disaster! There’s nothing worse than this!’ the former president added, referring to both the president and the Saturday Night Live comedian’s comments.
Biden took aim at Trump several times in his mostly humorous comments.
“The 2024 election is in full swing and yes, age is an issue,” said Biden, 81. “I’m a grown man competing against a six-year-old.”
Meanwhile, Jost, who attended the dinner with his wife, actress Scarlett Johannson, criticized the president along with other politicians. He specifically mentioned Lara, at one point.
Trump’s daughter-in-law, Lara, attended Saturday’s dinner at the Hilton in Washington DC.

“Lara Trump is here tonight,” the comedian said, to which one person was heard cheering and he responded, “Ok, I got a ‘woo.'”
“He recently released a cover of the song I Won’t Back Down,” he continued. “When Tom Petty heard it, he died again.”
“I can’t believe I’m saying this to a Trump family member, but maybe stick with politics?”
