Furious Domino's Customer Posted Side-by-Side Price Comparison of Pickup and Delivery Pizza Order

A woman has called out Domino’s “huge” fees amid claims the fast food giant charges customers almost double to receive its pizzas.

As the cost of living bites, Australians are looking for ways to avoid extra charges and, for many pizza lovers, that means picking up their takeaway from the store.

Nay Mcrae was happy to spend a little more for the convenience of having her pizzas delivered to her door, but quickly changed her mind when she realized how much more expensive it would be.

She shared a comparison of prices at her local store in Kempsey on the New South Wales mid north coast.

‘Has anyone noticed such a huge difference in pizza prices when delivering? This is our local Domino’s, we will not be receiving deliveries anytime soon,” he wrote on Facebook.

The photo showed that the total bill for three large pizzas increased from $35 to $65 with delivery, with what appeared to be a $10 surcharge added to each item.

With home delivery, the $16 supreme pizza became $26, the $12 Philly Cheesesteak rose to $22 and the $7 ham and cheese pizza went to $17, according to yahoo.

The online post was flooded with comments from unimpressed Australians, with many branding Domino’s a “rip-off” and “overpriced cardboard”.

“I called them about this and they said they now add a delivery fee to EVERY PIZZA…very dodgy,” one person said.

‘I realized this almost two years ago. I haven’t bought them since,” wrote another.

A third wrote: ‘OMG that’s crazy! We also find vouchers at Frugal Feeds which often allow us to get 40 per cent off the collection price.’

It is unclear when the price change took effect.

A Domino’s spokesperson said customers are paying more for the convenience of having hot pizzas delivered to their home.

Domino’s customers pay almost twice as much for the convenience of having hot pizzas delivered to their homes.

“The price of this menu takes into account additional costs such as labor, fuel and mileage required to get the order from our store to your door,” the spokesperson said.

“Domino’s pickup menu is where you’ll find the lowest price, as there are no additional costs to ship this order to you.”

Daily Mail Australia has contacted Domino’s for further comment.
