Eagles coach Nick Sirianni got into a fiery argument with one of his assistants on Sunday when Philly played the Steelers.
With the Eagles leading Pittsburgh 27-13 in the fourth quarter — and about to receive a punt — defensive tackle Jalen Carter nearly cost his team possession when he hit Connor Heyward in the helmet and was flagged for a penalty.
And Sirianni was outraged by Carter’s decision-making when he tried to confront the 23-year-old.
However, defensive coach Clint Huff stood in Sirianni’s way and the two exchanged words while standing face to face.
The team’s chief safety officer “Big Dom” DiSandro, who was banned from the sidelines last season after an altercation with the 49ers’ Dre Greenlaw, then intervened to ease the situation between Sirianni and Huff.
The situation did not escalate after a verbal confrontation, while Carter’s foul was deemed to have occurred after the Steelers punted, meaning the Eagles still got the ball.

Carter was flagged for unnecessary roughness, but could have cost Philly the ball

Sirianni declined to discuss what was said on the sidelines when asked after the match
However, Carter was given a 15-yard penalty for unnecessary roughness.
After the match, Sirianni remained tight-lipped about what was said on the sidelines.
“I will never comment on the conversations I have with players,” he said in the newspaper press conference after the match.
‘He made a play that is not up to our standard. It’s my job to correct that. Whatever it is, we’re going to correct the things we need to do better and praise the things we need to do well.”
Sirianni also said he “loves” Carter, who has become a starter for the 12-2 Eagles in his second season.
The No. 9 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft has 4.5 sacks and 12 tackles for a loss on the season.
This isn’t the first time this season that Sirianni has clashed with one of his own, as he yelled at the Eagles fans after the team’s win over the Browns in October.
During the team’s 2-2 start, some fans in the stands chanted “Fire Nick!”, and Sirianni has had a sometimes fraught relationship with the Philly faithful since last year’s season-ending collapse.
However, Philly is currently riding a 10-game win streak after Sunday’s 27-13 win over the Steelers, pushing Sirianni’s record as coach of the Eagles to an amazing 46-19.
