Disney’s magic extends to a clever play on words with a hidden meaning in the park names – at least according to some fans.
After an NBC Palm Springs segment aired pointing out that Disneyland contains LA – for Los Angeles, California – and Disney World contains ORL – for Orlando, Florida, where the park is located – a fierce debate broke out over its legitimacy .
In a screenshot shared widely online, the names of the two resorts were next to each other, with the letters “LA” highlighted at Disneyland and “ORL” highlighted at Disney World.
‘Coincidence or conspiracy?’ the text on the screen is read.
The screenshot was shared to Reddit and X, formerly known as Twitter, where users furiously debated whether the letter configuration was intentional.
Many were quick to point out that Disneyland isn’t actually in LA, as the park is located in Anaheim, California.
‘What is a Laorl?’ one user snapped in response to the post.
“Disneyland is in Anaheim, and Disney World is in Lake Buena Vista lol,” another commented.

‘Chance? Yeah, definitely,” another added.
“DisneyWORLD is way bigger than any other Disney location lol, that’s why,” someone else shared.
Others wondered why the parks abroad didn’t also feature a super-secret pun.
“If only Disney Paris was ‘disneyPARk’ and Disney Shanghai was ‘disneySHAck’ lolol,” one skeptic wrote.
But there were some who admitted that they were stunned by the revelation.
“This has honestly never occurred to me,” one stunned user wrote.
Disneyland first opened in the United States and shared its magic with the world in 1955.
The park covers 500 hectares and is the only park designed and built under the direct supervision of Walt Disney.
Many were quick to point out that Disneyland isn’t actually in LA, as the park is located in Anaheim, California, and not Los Angeles.
Disney World opened in 1971 and covers a much larger area than Disneyland, covering an area of 27,000 hectares, spread over five major theme parks and two water parks.
There are three other parks around the world, including Tokyo Disneyland, which opened in 1983 and marked Disney’s first international theme park.
Shanghai Disneyland, opened in 2016, and Disneyland Paris, opened in 1992.
In August, Disney World in Orlando announced it will expand its Magic Kingdom with the addition of a new park section dedicated to villains — marking the biggest change to the parks in more than 50 years.
Known as Villains Land, construction on the new area will begin next year.
Chairman of Disney Experiences Josh D’Amaro announced the park’s upcoming expansion at the D23 Expo.
“This country will be home to the villains you know and loathe, which means happily ever after… It may feel like a distant dream,” D’Amaro said.
He added that Villains Land will be a “fearless new vision for what a Disney experience can be.”
Construction will begin in 2025, but D’Amaro did not reveal the opening date of what is believed to be Disney World’s biggest change in 53 years.
