Prince William reveals that his mother Diana brought up the issue of homelessness to him at a “young age”, and he is “so pleased” that she did.
Prince William has confessed that his late mother would be “disappointed” that the UK has not yet made progress on tackling homelessness.
The Prince of Wales appeared in a short film on Comic Relief last night, where he sat down with two people who had experienced homelessness: Nawshin and Miles.
In the candid conversation, William said that his mother, Diana, Princess of Wales, had been tackling the problem all her life.
“My mother introduced me to the cause of homelessness from a young age and I’m so glad she exposed me to that part of life,” he said.
“I think she’d be disappointed that we’re still not further along in terms of addressing homelessness and preventing it than we probably were when she was interested and involved.”

Miles told William that he had gone through a “dark and difficult period about five years ago”, saying that he had “hit rock bottom” after suffering his tenth seizure.
Nawshin described her story as “relatively complicated”, having been in and out of mental health hospital and homeless.
She said the constant changes had affected her ‘psyche’, adding: ‘It affects your self-confidence. You stop being a unique individual.

‘Life threw so many things at me. I had to lose everything to really find out what I needed,” she said.
“When you’re homeless, you don’t have a support network, you don’t have people you can trust, the pain of the situation gets much worse,” Nawshin added, to which William nodded in appreciation.
“There’s a lot of stigma, there’s a lot of misconceptions about what homelessness is,” William said.
