Horrifying footage has captured the moment a speeding motorcyclist miraculously survived a high-speed crash in Melbourne after a driver failed to give way.

Dashcam footage shows the motorcyclist overtaking cars at high speed before being hit by a grey 4×4 vehicle at an intersection.

The T-shaped accident pushed the motorcyclist from the center lane into the rightmost lane, and the impact forced him off his bike.

The motorcyclist crashed into a pole in the median strip, before bouncing off and landing on the road.

Although he was wearing a helmet, the motorcyclist was not wearing protective clothing and instead wore shorts and a grey hoodie.

Debris was seen strewn along the three-lane highway, and the driver of the 4×4 immediately got out of his car to render assistance.

Australian drivers were divided over who caused the crash.

“They are both at fault, because unfortunately the car failed to yield and make sure they were safe and the motorcyclist, well, definitely failed to speed,” one wrote.

“The woman in the grey car is still at fault for failing to yield. Just because he broke one law doesn’t excuse her from breaking another,” said another.

“I drive and I can honestly say it’s 100 percent the drivers’ fault,” wrote another.

But many believed that regardless of who was at fault, the motorcyclist was “stupid” and had a “death wish” for going so fast.

“Wow, that’s driving with a death wish and no idea what’s going on! Do we have a driver education problem?” wrote one.

One said: “Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. I feel sorry for innocent road users.”

A second added: “I was lucky to get away with it, you can never predict what other drivers are going to do.”
