A young mother fights for her life in a coma after she and her partner are struck by a car in a suspected hit-and-run while on a date together.
Jamie Edwards, 25, and her boyfriend, Cooper Kennedy, 24, were on a date at a Muay Thai martial arts event at the Alexandra Hills Hotel in Queensland on Saturday night.
The Victoria Point couple had left the location and were waiting for an Uber in the parking lot when they were allegedly deliberately struck by a car before the driver sped off around 11:30 p.m.
The accused driver, Joseph Peter Pritchard, 34, has been charged with attempted murder.
Ms. Edwards and Mr. Kennedy were taken to hospital, and the mother of two was placed in a medically induced coma.
Kennedy was released from the hospital on Sunday, while his partner remains in intensive care.

Mr. Kennedy’s sister, Aynsley Rose, has organized a fundraiser to help support the couple.
“Cooper and Jamie were rushed to hospital for treatment, where Jamie also went into a medically induced coma due to the severity of her injuries,” Ms. Rose wrote.
“To this day, Jamie remains in the intensive care unit at Princess Alexandra Hospital with his family sitting by his side, hoping to get better.
“She remains in an induced coma with extensive injuries, which will require a long rehabilitation.”
Ms Rose wrote that “during this tragic and unfathomable time”, loved ones of the young family are asking the local community for help to help cover the couple’s “ongoing medical and rehabilitation costs”.
“Any donations made will also help provide Cooper, Jamie and their two children with much-needed support,” he said.
Mr Kennedy gave a heartbreaking update on Ms Edward’s condition on Wednesday, saying the courier mail that the mother-of-two was ‘not in good shape’ and had been put into a ‘deeper coma with stronger medication’.
She also revealed that she was not working and relied on her savings while taking care of the couple’s children.
