Dannii Minogue broke down in tears while talking about her sister Kylie’s battle with breast cancer in the trailer for her appearance on ABC’s Take 5 with Zan Rowe.
The Australian singer, 52, spoke through tears about Kylie’s battle with breast cancer in 2005 and the serious mental toll it took on the superstar siblings.
Dannii also revealed how her sister’s battle coincided with the death of her closest friend from the same disease.
‘My sister got breast cancer while on tour. I remember they took her off the stage,” Dannii began through tears.
“I was visiting her when she was having chemotherapy and she was very sick. I jumped to the music with her and in the process of making it better, the music helped us get through.’
Kylie was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2005, while she was in the middle of her Showgirl: Greatest Hits world tour.
After a partial mastectomy and rounds of radiation and chemotherapy, Kylie was given the all-clear the following year.
Dannii added that her sister asked her to join her on stage for a duet once she got better, and the joy she felt performing alongside Kylie several months later was incredible.

“It was incredible, you could feel the roar of the audience and we felt that all along the way the love and support was there.”
The Melbourne-born star also revealed how one of her closest friends, Laura, also battled cancer and sadly died.
‘My sister had cancer, she recovered, it was a wild ride for our family. And then my friend Laura had cancer.
‘She was staying with me and said she had pain in her back; An hour later he was in the fetal position. He went into the hospital and never came out again.
“It was very difficult to see her go through this.”
Dannii added that although these dual tragedies were a particularly dark time for her, she managed to pull through with the support of her sister.

Kylie has always been very open about the struggles she faced while battling breast cancer, and even urged her followers in 2018 to donate to the UK-based charity Breast Cancer Care.
Speaking to Karl Stefanovic about her diagnosis on 60 Minutes in 2014, Kylie admitted that her cancer journey had taught her to put herself first.
“Someone had told me at the time: ‘You have to be a little selfish.’
‘It’s not in my nature to be selfish, but now is the time to do it. Let people take care of you. And… that’s what I did.’
