A man who died after falling from a wind turbine has been remembered as a loving father and a big-hearted larrikin.

Daniel Squillari, 34, fell 20 meters when a wind tower he was working on collapsed into Lake Proserpine, off the Whitsunday coast in northern Queensland, last week.

The father-of-two was helping to build a weather mast at the site when tragedy struck.

His colleagues performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation until paramedics arrived.

Mr Squillari was assessed for critical injuries but tragically died at the scene.

He began his career as a metal fabricator in Cairns before landing a position at Sundown Engineering, where he completed his training as a young man.

The former owners, Ian and Michelle Coubrough, described Mr. Squillari as a hard worker and a skilled aluminum welder.

“He was a very loving family man,” Mrs. Coubrough told the Cairns Mail.

“He was a hard-working person and very good at what he did.”

“His absence leaves a void that can never be filled and is deeply missed,” Squillari posted on social media.

“Your love and light will live forever in our hearts and thank you for all your love and support.”

All operations have been suspended at the Lake Proserpine workplace while Workplace Health and Safety Queensland (WHSQ) investigates the accident.
