The historic Hollywood mansion once owned by Britney Spears and Brittany Murphy has been listed for nearly $18 million.

Spears, 43, claimed to have been so frightened by “evil spirits” that she left the house and never returned, selling it to Murphy fully furnished in 2003 for $3.85 million.

The Clueless actress would spend her final days there before collapsing at the property on December 20, 2009 and later being pronounced dead at age 32.

Just five months later, her husband Simon Monjack, 40, also died at the home.

Now a Zillow list insists the sprawling home has been “reborn,” after undergoing “a complete metamorphosis,” including a “newly redesigned” exterior and other changes.

David Parnes of Carolwood Estates, a Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles alum, is handling the sale with an asking price of $17,995,000.

The home belonged to several different owners after Murphy’s death, which was due to untreated pneumonia, anemia, and poisoning from prescription and over-the-counter medications.

The current owners purchased the property in 2020.

After Simon’s death, his mother Linda Monjack expressed concern that there was “severe mold” in the premises.

She told DailyMail in 2013: “All I know is that before Simon died, he was hallucinating things coming out of his skin.”

The theory was previously dismissed in 2010 by the medical examiner’s office.

Murphy and Spears claimed they felt something strange about the mansion.

The pop star’s former makeup artist, Julianne Kaye, recalled the encounter that led her to leave the house on We need to talk about Britney podcast in February 2021.

“She had that place in Sunset Plaza, and I’m just going to say, this is really weird. (Britney) calls me…I had my friend do reiki healing on her,” he shared.

‘He had gone up; I guess he had had a crazy party weekend and needed to relax. He left, and she swears to God that he opened some spiritual portal or something, and these evil spirits had come in… and they were trying to push her down the stairs or something crazy.’

“It was so bad that she left,” Kaye added, noting that the singer took refuge at the Casa Del Mar hotel and never returned home.

“She says, ‘I know you’re going to think I’m crazy. I’m not crazy. I know what I saw. “I know what I felt.”

Murphy also felt something unsettling and often expressed her discomfort with her husband.

According to a report published by The Hollywood Reporter In January 2011, Monjack shared that Brittany tried to avoid the house.

“She absolutely hated the Rising Glen house,” Simon said. ‘Every time we drove up to Sunset, Britt would say, “Please, can we stay at the Beverly Hills Hotel?”

“I would say, ‘Honey, you have to be realistic. We have our house, a 10,000 square foot house. “We’re going to stay in it.”
