& # 39; Our plane hit a vulture … you heard screams coming out of the cockpit & # 39 ;: Cricket commentator Jonathan Agnew remembers his best and worst travel adventures
Cricket commentator Jonathan Agnew
So which destination is the most memorable cricket commentator?
Here he tells about why Adelaide is his favorite foreign cricket town, a terrible flying experience in India and more …
FIRST HOLIDAY MEMORY?
I went to Brittany with my family at the age of 10 in the very early days of package holidays. I didn't like snails or artichokes, and Dad tried to ride on the wrong side of the road.
MOST WELCOMING CRICKET NATION?
Sri Lanka. The country has gone through so many trials and tribulations – but the people themselves are always incredibly hospitable.
AT LEAST WELCOME?
I'm not a big fan of South Africa. I always feel a little concerned about safety. The last time I was there, I was actually attacked by a policeman – he pulled us over and demanded money.
MOST FAITHFUL VISIT?
Cruising on the old rice boats in Kerala, South India, with my wife was great. We also did a tiger safari in India and got to see cubs – it doesn't get much better than that.
FAVE FOREIGN CRICKET CITY?
Adelaide. It has a beautiful ground in the style of the Lord. It is also a fantastic city that I like because of the tranquility, the river and the beaches and the easy access to the Outback.
Jonathan describes Adelaide as a & # 39; fantastic city & # 39 ;. Pictured are the river Torrens and the Adelaide Oval
HOLIDAY FROM HELL?
I flew from Bangalore to Calcutta before I got a bus. Our plane hit a vulture – you could hear screams coming from the cockpit.
LONG TRAVEL TIPS?
I always use a multi-plug adapter, my own cappuccino bags and manuka honey to keep my voice in top condition.
DO YOU AVOID ALCOHOL ON FLIGHTS?
Oh no, you might as well enjoy it.
