The unknown man scaled the Brickell Avenue Bridge unassisted and left nearby residents in shock as he risked his life by crawling to the top – there was a 90-foot drop with boats and ships passing below.
He was seen waving from above before descending safely when the drawbridge came back down. He managed to escape before the police arrived at the scene.
Derek Newball captured the incident on video from his rooftop apartment and shared it online where it went viral.

He is heard saying, ‘What’s wrong with that dude’, as he sees the climber near the top of the standing drawbridge.
“This can’t be real,” Newball said. “It must be crazy.”
The stunt was seen slowly rising slowly before finally getting the top and clinging to the ledge.
Then, he raised his hand and began pumping air behind him with his fist before letting out a huge cheer.
Then the man came back down where the bridge was coming to an end – and when he reached the halfway point he gave shrieks of joy again and began to wave.
Horns sounded on the boats that were passing by.
“There was a boat passing by and they started clapping,” Newball said.
When the boat settled down, it started to run before bowing and paying tribute to the crowds of people watching it.

It is not known if this man was a reckless climber or why he climbed the bridge.
