Cowboys star Mazi Smith’s ‘unpaid storage unit from his college days fetches $1,880 at auction before revealing THOUSANDS in Michigan memorabilia, playbooks, sneakers and a GUN SAFE,’ winning bidder claims

Mazi Smith didn’t just leave Michigan football behind when the Dallas Cowboys selected the defensive tackle in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft.

The 6-foot-3, 337-pound nose tackle apparently discarded his gun safe, his Lego collection, the Wolverines’ playbooks, as well as thousands of dollars worth of shoes and other clothing, according to a man who claims to have purchased Smith’s storage unit in Ann Arbor. At auction.

Vincent Broadway, the winning bidder, did not identify Smith by name while revealing the unit’s contents on TikTok. However, he did mention that that unit was owned by a former Michigan player who was selected in the first round of the 2023 draft. And a quick look at the first 31 picks in last year’s draft reveals that only one Wolverine was taken: Smith .

Neither Smith’s agent nor the Cowboys immediately responded to DailyMail.com’s request for confirmation.

But if the unit belonged to Smith, it appears to be a significant find for Broadway, who called it “one of the craziest storage units I’ve ever purchased.”

“I guess I paid $1,880 for this storage locker, because most people saw this giant gun safe out front,” Broadway is heard saying as he points his camera at a tall ProVault digital safe.

“But what I saw was this shoe in the back, and it’s a Michigan Jordan shoe,” he continued, holding the shoe up to the camera. “These are exclusive tweets for gamers and they sell for between six and seven hundred dollars, and that was just the tip of the iceberg for this unit.”

‘All of the shoes here are essentially player-exclusive Michigan Wolverine Jordan shoes. Cleats, regular player-only shoes, training shoes… it’s crazy.”

The shoes included a pair of Travis Scott Jordan 1s, valued at $800, and even a pair of $1,000 Michigan Jordan Lows.

The shoes are estimated to be worth $20,000, according to Broadway.

Smith, a well-known Lego enthusiast, also had boxes of toy blocks loaded into several containers, not to mention a $1,000 Louis Vuitton toiletry bag.

The memorabilia includes Michigan playbooks from the team’s John Harbaugh era before the title-winning coach left for the Los Angeles Chargers earlier this month, as well as several pairs of game-worn shoes.

Storage units are typically auctioned off when the tenant falls behind on payments, although it is unclear whether Smith owed money and, if so, how much.

Smith, 22, is coming off his first season with the Cowboys, for whom he started three games in 2023. The Southfield, Michigan, native had one sack in 17 appearances.

And for those concerned about a young person keeping a gun safe in a storage unit, it’s worth noting that the University of Michigan prohibits firearms, so many hunting enthusiasts who attend school are expected to keep rifles off campus.

However, Smith has been arrested for a weapons offense.

In 2022, Ann Arbor police found a concealed weapon in his possession during a routine traffic stop, resulting in a felony charge.

He was later found guilty of a lesser charge while explaining that he was in the process of applying for a concealed weapons permit in Michigan.
