Commuters were warned to allow extra travel time after a person was seen on train tracks just before rush hour.

All trains were stopped outside Redfern station in Sydney after emergency services were notified about the man on the tracks at around 3pm on Tuesday.

NSW Police confirmed they received reports of a possible self-harm incident and arrived at the scene to transport the man to hospital unharmed.

While it has been taken off the tracks, Sydney Trains has warned that several train lines are expected to remain delayed during rush hour.

Lines T1, T2, T3, T8 and T9 are already experiencing delays, although some train stops may change at short notice.

Sydney Trains urged travelers to listen to announcements while on its platform and to check information screens or transport apps before boarding.

A train guard could be heard telling travelers that the man was on the “wrong side of the Cleveland Street Bridge,” the Daily Telegraph reports.

He also revealed that overhead electricity had been cut while waiting for the man to be removed safely.
