Come fry with me! The UK’s cheapest and most expensive airports for a full English breakfast revealed – and it’s Newcastle International with the best deal (and best reviews)

The UK’s cheapest and most expensive airports for a full English breakfast have been revealed – and Newcastle International has landed on the right side.

Jet setters here can enjoy a pre-flight fry-up for £10.96, compared to the national average of £13.50.

Passengers who are feeling peckish and need to take off from London City Airport will pay the most: the average price of an English breakfast here is £18.50.

That’s according to research by Jack’s Flight Club, which ranked the average price of a hot breakfast at the UK’s 15 most popular airports, using data from Statist.

The ranking was established based on the analysis of menu prices from 65 restaurants at these airports. It was also noted that the average airport fries include seven items, with the majority of restaurants excluding toast from the dish.

Passengers who are feeling peckish and need to fly out of London City Airport (above) will pay the most for a pre-flight English breakfast – the average price here is £18.50.

Manchester is second for cheapest airport breakfast, losing the crown by just 4p, with an average price of £11.

The top five is completed by Glasgow (third, £12.16); East Midlands International (fourth, £12.40) and Edinburgh (fifth, £12.40).

Birmingham come sixth (£12.88), followed by Belfast International (seventh, £12.98) and Liverpool John Lennon (eighth, £13.15).

THE MOST EXPENSIVE FRIES

The five most expensive airport fries are all served at London’s main airports, according to the rankings.

Behind London City is Heathrow in second (£14.98), followed by London Stansted (third, £14.08); London Luton (fourth, £13.83) and London Gatwick (fifth, £13.59).

Passengers flying from Bristol will get a slightly better deal on their eggs and bacon at Bristol (sixth, £13.49) and Leeds Bradford (seventh, £13.24).

The most affordable airport breakfast was found at Newcastle International’s Beer House, costing just £8.95, almost £5 less than the national average.

The most expensive is served at Juniper & Co in London City, according to the study, priced at £18.50.

The study also suggests that passengers can sometimes get a cheaper deal by ordering from a restaurant before going through airport security.

This is the case in 20 percent of airports, which saw prices of restaurants inside the terminal increase, according to the results.

Glasgow International Airport has seen the biggest price rise after metal detectors. Here, restaurants charge an average of 24 percent more, according to the study. This is followed by Edinburgh with 15 percent and Gatwick with 11 percent.

The results suggest that passengers can sometimes get a cheaper deal by ordering from a restaurant before airport security.

In addition to the rankings, the study also ranked the average ratings of each breakfast restaurant based on Google reviews for each establishment.

Newcastle International Airport and London City Airport were rated highest.each getting a rating of 4.3 out of 5. Leeds Bradford and London Stansted, however, were found to be the worst, both scoring 3.4.

Drew Stewart, marketing director at Jack’s Flight Club, said: “For many Brits, starting a holiday without a cooked breakfast is unthinkable, but finding one that doesn’t break the bank is key before embarking for an expensive trip.

“Turns out those in the North East have hit the jackpot, enjoying not only the friendliest full English but also the highest rated airport for dining experiences.
