Coles shopper makes shocking discovery in packet of coconut flavored Tim Tams: ‘Local attraction’

Outraged shoppers have taken to social media to criticize a Sydney supermarket after a customer spotted a vile detail on a Tim Tam packet.

In a post on Reddit, a social media user shared an image of a packet of Tim Tam on the shelf at Coles in Burwood, in Sydney’s inner west, which appeared to have been eaten by rats or mice.

The Arnott’s package had a large hole in the middle, with bite marks visible on at least three of the coconut-flavored Tim Tams.

“Welcome to your local Burwood Coles attraction,” one disgruntled customer captioned the post.

One commenter stated that it was not unusual to see products ravaged by pests in the supermarket.

“It’s not the first time, I’ve shopped there and seen this many times,” they said.

An outraged Coles customer shared a photo of a Tim Tam packet apparently ravaged by pests.

A Coles spokesperson said a number of claims in relation to the Tim Tam pack are currently being investigated.

Other commentators questioned the supermarket’s management and product controls.

“I suspect this will sit on a shelf at Coles Burwood for a long period before management notices,” one commented.

A Coles spokesperson said a number of claims in relation to the Tim Tam pack are currently being investigated.

“Coles takes food safety seriously and we work hard to maintain a clean environment in our stores and distribution centres,” a spokesperson told 7 NEWS.

“We have an integrated pest management system, which focuses primarily on keeping pests out and then controlling them if they come in.”

While some commenters were shocked to see the image, others tried to downplay the post.

“To be fair, those coconut Tim Tams are delicious,” one commenter wrote.

‘Rats! “I wanted some coconut creams,” said another.

Coles has been contacted for further comment.
