Three years after Kathleen Bautista was found clinging to life in the bushes, new details have emerged about the moments that led to her terrifying disappearance.

Kathleen was only 19 when her car was sailing in dense and remote bushes in Canberra.

A text message sent to his family moments before the accident worried the authorities, accelerating the need to locate it, the Sydney Morning Herald reported.

"I'm sorry forever," he wrote to his parents, on the morning of September 5, 2015.

The teenager, who was described by his friends as "bubbly" and a "social butterfly," had been diagnosed with clinical depression the year before the car accident, and it was known that he had already talked about self-harm.

She had increasingly turned to alcohol and drugs to cope with feelings of despair, and she has no recollection of what decision ultimately led her to fate.

& # 39; I just remember being there [in the bush]. I do not remember where I went or why I chose that place. I do not know how I planned it, I do not know how I found it. I have not been there before.

Kathleen's Hyundai was found overturned and crushed on a steep embankment, however, when authorities located it, about seven days after its disappearance was reported, they were surprised to discover it was empty.

In his search among the wreckage of the vehicle, a small hand rose from the other side of the embankment, weakly and weakly as a sign of help.

The hand belonged to Kathleen Bautista wounded, dehydrated, but alive.

The authorities that investigated, as well as Kat herself, believe that she probably remained in the vehicle, unconscious, for several days.

After returning, he somehow made his way through the wreckage, with a broken ankle and glass capped on his neck, and was able to partially make his way down the embankment.

Without realizing it, she crawled in the wrong direction, farther from the edge of the road.

Kathleen believes that her survival story may be to help others who are suffering.

"The way depression works is that it consumes you completely." Even if I have a bit of hope in me, it will still be my depression trying to crush that, but [the will to live is] obviously, because I'm still here, and surpass that & # 39;

By sharing her story, Kathleen hopes to reduce the stigma surrounding mental illness and encourage suffering people to express their opinion and receive the treatment they deserve.
