Travis Kelce will miss the Kansas City Chiefs’ next game and enjoy some downtime with Taylor Swift before their final Super Bowl charge, according to reports.
The Chiefs just entered a much-needed mini-bye week after a hectic Christmas schedule that saw them play three games in the space of 10 days.
The last of those outings, a 29-10 Christmas Day win over the Steelers in Pittsburgh, saw them clinch the AFC’s top playoff spot, meaning they’ll receive a first-round bye and enjoy the advantage of playing at home throughout the postseason.
And with nothing left to play in the regular season, it seems likely that Kelce will be rested for next weekend’s clash against the Denver Broncos and instead head to a romantic getaway with Swift in New York City.
Chiefs insider Pete Sweeney hinted at it while he was in the New day with the SSJ podcast on Friday, where he revealed that head coach Andy Reid is expected to leave out most of his key starters for that game.
“I think Andy finished the (Steelers) game and gave the guys some time to do what they wanted to do.” A tight end might be going to New York with his girlfriend, a quarterback might be hanging out with his kids. Who knows what everyone else is doing,” said Sweeney, who has spent more than a decade covering the team.

While she wasn’t in Pittsburgh on Christmas Day, several Steelers fans showed up for their game against the Chiefs wearing t-shirts that said “Taylor Swift Sucks.”
According to social media reports, one of the fans in question was kicked out of a bar around the corner from the stadium after the game.
They are believed to have been kicked out of Jason Aldean’s Kitchen & Rooftop Bar for being “drunk and combative” that night, having watched their team suffer a third consecutive NFL loss.
As a result, their star tight end will be one of several key starters rested next week.
That will free him up to rest with Swift, who attended last Saturday’s win over the Texans.

The game proved historic for Kelce, as he set a franchise record for most receiving touchdowns.
The 35-year-old surpassed the Chiefs record held by fellow tight end Tony Gonzalez with 76, and his 77 score also helped secure the AFC’s No. 1 postseason seed.
And Swift was clearly impressed by his latest achievement in the field after liking a post from the boss account and one of new heightsthe podcast that Travis and his brother Jason co-host, about her boyfriend’s big achievement.
Kelce also had his 1,000th career catch in the game, although he remains far behind Gonzalez and former Cowboys star Jason Witten for third place on that all-time list.
Gonzalez has yet to surpass him in that category with 1,325 career receptions. Witten is among the Chiefs legends with 1,228 receptions.
