Chelsea faced Barrow in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night and got off to a bright start

Chelsea made a bright start to Tuesday’s Carabao Cup clash against Barrow by scoring three goals in the first half hour.

Two of those goals came from the right boot of Christopher Nkunku before Paul Farman scored an own goal.

But it was João Félix who possibly shone the brightest.

Felix set up Nkunku’s opener with a delightful through ball.

The Portuguese playmaker was unlucky not to score himself when his free-kick from 25 yards hit the post before rebounding into the net off the back of Barrow goalkeeper Farman.

Felix had not started a game for Chelsea this season before Tuesday night.

His first four appearances under new manager Enzo Maresca were as a substitute in the Premier League.

But after seeing Felix dazzle against League Two side Barrow, a number of Blues supporters called on Maresca to give him more playing time against stronger opponents.

One tweeted: “Leave whoever is necessary on the bench so Felix can play. It doesn’t matter who it is, he can NEVER be on the bench.”

Reacting to his own goal free-kick, another message read: “When João Félix hits the ball, you know the final result.”

A third fan tweeted: “This is exactly why I wanted Felix back. He’s a special player.”

Nkunku also received his fair share of praise via social media.

“I can’t believe this is our B team,” wrote one fan reacting to Felix’s assist for Nkunku in the eighth minute.

Another keen Blues supporter said: “Cup competitions will be great fun with Felix and Nkunku around.”
