Charlton Athletic will sign striker Conor Washington on a free transfer from Hearts on Thursday after the addition of MK Dons midfielder Alex Gilbey.
25-year-old Gilbey has agreed to a three-year deal to become Lee Bowyer’s first signing of the summer and Northern Ireland international Washington will be confirmed on a two-year deal.
Washington was allowed to leave Hearts for cost savings and he was one of their highest earners. The 28-year-old Washington, who has 21 caps, has also had spells with QPR, Sheffield United and Peterborough.

Charlton had drawn deals for Gilbey and Washington last week to be blocked by the EFL due to the club’s transfer embargo.
Club secretary Chris Parkes, however, remained in negotiations with the governing body and was finally able to negotiate approval on Tuesday.
Charlton has offered an extension to goalkeeper Ben Amos, but has Middlesbrough’s interest in goalkeeper Dillon Phillips.
Luton is also still in the frame for midfielder Alfie Doughty.
