Veteran Channel Seven weather presenter Liz Cantor announced her resignation from her role on Wednesday after 17 years with the network.
The charismatic 41-year-old TV presenter shared the shock news in a statement, revealing she is moving to rival broadcaster Channel Ten.
“I was a seven, now I’m a ten. I’m honoured to be part of bringing local news back to Queensland. I’m really excited to bring the weather to our community,” Cantor said.
In a surprise move, Liz will feature on 10 News First Queensland alongside another former Channel Seven reporter, Sharyn Ghidella, who also left the network earlier this year.
Cantor, who will begin his new role on Monday, took to Instagram to pay tribute to his former colleagues and share his excitement about the career change.
Alongside a gallery of gorgeous photos of herself working at the network, Liz wrote a heartfelt note: ‘I just want to use this space to take a moment and say thank you to my colleagues at 7News.
‘I appreciate the friendships, experiences, lessons and growth I have experienced while running alongside all of you over the past 17 years.
“You are an amazing, hard-working and motivating group of people. I feel very fortunate to have been able to share such an influential part of my life with you.”

The shocking news comes after Sharyn Ghidella, 57, also confirmed her… An exciting new job after her shock dismissal from Seven.
The Queensland-based news presenter was sacked from 7News last month after 17 years at the network amid a series of media job cuts.
She later confirmed that she will be joining Network 10 to present the 5pm Queensland news bulletin.
Her move to the network will also bring the 10 News First program back to its Brisbane studios after years of being read from Sydney.

Sharyn described her new job as a “full circle moment” as she returns to Network 10 after beginning her career in metropolitan news with the channel in 1990.
Current 10 News First anchor Sandra Sully will hand over the reins and said she is “delighted” to have Sharyn take on the role.
There has been a bloodbath at Seven in the wake of cost cuts as the broadcaster’s news division comes under new management.
Other big names in attendance include veterans Robert Ovadia, Andrew Frampton and seasoned Melbourne crime reporter Cameron Baud.
