Jockey Luke Nolen was taken to hospital on Thursday after breaking his ribs and nose during a fall in the second race at Geelong.
The 44-year-old jockey is best known for riding ‘Down Under wonder’ Black Caviar to her Diamond Jubilee victory in 2012.
He also rode the horse to 22 of his 25 consecutive wins, but is now a doubt for the Ballarat Cup on December 7.
On Thursday, Nolen was aboard Draw Attention and the pair were heading towards the top of the straight during the 1221m Geelong Homes 3YO Fillies Maiden Plate race when he fell from his mount.
The pair were at the back of the field when the incident occurred, and racing was subsequently suspended when medical teams arrived.
The cyclist was conscious when doctors and emergency crews came to his aid.

Racing Victoria later confirmed that he had fractured his ribs and nose, and that further scans on his leg would follow.
The Victorian Jockey Association (VJA) later announced that he had been taken to hospital with a suspected concussion and had also suffered facial injuries.
“VJA update: After a fall at Geelong, Luke Nolen is being transported to Geelong Hospital with injuries to his nose and teeth, concussion suggested and lower back pain,” wrote Racing Victoria on X .
The VJA later revealed that Nolan had broken his ribs and nose in the incident.
‘VJA update: Scans at Geelong Hospital have revealed Luke Nolen has fractured ribs and facial injuries, including a broken nose. “More scans on the lower leg will follow,” Racing Victoria wrote.
Draw Attention was not injured during the incident.
Nolen has booked trips in Mornington, The Valley and Ballarat over the coming weeks.
If medical evaluations confirm that he has suffered a concussion, Nolen will automatically be sidelined for two weeks.
He had suffered a serious injury in February this year which broke his ribs before undergoing surgery to stop internal bleeding following the fall at Packenham.
Sea Poem, trained by Ben, Will and JD Hayes and ridden by Blake Shinn, won the $37,500 race.
