Sietsema compared the interior of the prestigious restaurant to an amusement park due to its unusual interior decoration.

“Walking through them evokes amusement parks and Jonah’s vision from inside a whale,” he wrote in the Washington Post article.

“Reservations holders are shown to their table in a dining room so noisy that you can’t tell if the waiter has just greeted you or asked your water preference.”

He was not impressed with the price of the food served in the restaurant.

‘I’m used to seeing high beef prices. But $53 for a routine roast chicken? I hope the main course comes with luxury,” Sietsema added.

“Instead, it rests on green beans and peas that are pretty to the eye but boring to the tongue.”

The food critic claimed that STK was a “hookup place that just happened to serve food” and pointed out how the loyalty program asks if you want to be friends with benefits.

“STK is not a situation you want to be in. With few exceptions, the dishes are mediocre versions of steakhouse staples,” he said.

Sietsema added: ‘I also have problems with meat. Most selections need a sauce as a back-up. (Try horseradish cream.) The New York strip is completely chewy and flavorless. It was also grilled beyond the medium rare we requested.

He described the rack of lamb as “warm, moist and lazy” and stated that the beef rack was the “saddest cut of all.”

“The hostesses are friendly no matter how busy they are, but once you’re seated, be careful: your entire order comes out at once,” the food critic wrote.

It is telling that no one who has dined with me at STK has wanted to return, even as my guest. That’s a lot of rejection.
