A group of would-be thieves launched a brazen attack on a Melbourne shopping center using a garbage truck.
The incident happened about 4.50am on Monday at the Burnside Hub shopping centre, in the city’s west, and the truck collided with newly installed bollards outside the shopping centre.
Authorities believe the attackers were trying to attack an ATM inside the premises.
Despite their efforts, the thieves fled the scene empty-handed in a blue van without license plates.
This is not the first time the Burnside Hub shopping center has been attacked.
The small center has reportedly been the victim of several break-ins, leading to the installation of $40,000 bollards, Sunrise reported.
Victoria Police said the blue van was last seen on Robinsons Road.
Any witnesses, anyone with dash cam/CCTV footage or information are urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
