Football legend Geoff Robinson has tragically died at the age of 66.

Robinson played in 139 premiership games for the Bulldogs between 1977 and 1984 and returned to the team in 1986.

After a long battle with throat cancer, he is believed to have passed away due to a heart attack.

Robinson was known as “the Wild Man” and was recognizable on the field by his distinctive shoulder-length black hair.

“Geoff was the most decent, loyal guy and he was my friend,” said Robinson’s teammate and Bulldogs sponsor Arthur Laundy.

“Everyone loved ‘Robbo’. They loved the way he played football.”

Former Bulldogs Paul Langmack said: “He taught me a lot.”

This is a breaking news story. More to come soon.
