- Designer Brittany Higgins’ wedding dress was custom made
- New details of the wedding revealed in an interview with Marie Claire
Brittany Higgins opened up about her custom-made Grace Kelly-style wedding dress in an interview with a major women’s magazine.
The former Liberal staffer married David Sharaz in an intimate ceremony at The Valley Estate, a sprawling luxury estate on the Gold Coast, on Saturday afternoon in front of 80 guests.
Higgins’ dress was by Australian designer Paolo Sebastian and featured a long-sleeved lace bodice, cinched with a bow in the front and masses of white tulle that fell to the floor in a ballgown skirt.
The price of a Paolo Sebastian wedding dress varies because each piece is custom-made, but they sell secondhand for up to $30,000.
However, Higgins has now revealed that “my dream dress” was a custom-made piece designed especially for her in collaboration with the brand’s founder, Paul Vasileff.
It was inspired by the $65,000 ivory dress worn by former American actress Grace Kelly when she married Prince Rainier III of Monaco in 1956.

Speaking to Marie Claire on Monday, Higgins said: “Paolo Sebastian is an Australian designer who I’ve been obsessed with for years.
“Collaborating with Paul to create the modern Grace Kelly dress of my dreams was a great privilege.”
Sharaz didn’t know anything about the dress before seeing his bride standing at the end of the island on Saturday, holding a bouquet of blush and white roses.
It is understood the Marie Claire interview was not a paid exclusive and the publicity was not planned by the bride or groom.
Sharaz told the magazine that he had been looking forward to marrying Higgins “ever since I first saw her all those years ago.”
“That being said, celebrating with our family and friends and seeing Brittany really happy for the first time in years, after everything she’s been through, was the best day of my life.”

The couple met in 2020 when she was a junior media adviser to Senator Michaelia Cash and he was a Sky News journalist.
He proposed at the Cape Byron Lighthouse on New Year’s Eve 2022.
Earlier on Monday, it emerged that Canberra-based psychic medium Carrie de Block was on the guest list, while long-time friends and acquaintances were not.
Sharaz is a fan of De Block and has regularly sought his advice.
When asked about his appearance at the wedding, the groom said: “I have friends from many walks of life and I was grateful to have them all there to celebrate my marriage to Brittany.”
The newlyweds will remain in Australia until the end of the week before returning to their home in Lunas, southern France.
