A woman has been criticised by social media users and told to go “to Benidorm” after leaving negative comments about the “normal Turkish breakfast” at an Antalya resort.

The British TikToker, who uses the username @enfermodeserkint1took to the app to share a video of the buffet breakfast at the Crystal Family Resort in Turkey, telling others to “not bother.”

“I wouldn’t mind guys, the food is not up to par. It’s supposed to be a five-star resort but at the buffet restaurant every day there’s the same food,” he told viewers at the start of the video as the camera pans across a wide variety of breakfast options.

‘They offer soup for breakfast, cheeses and hams.

“There are scrambled eggs mixed with tomatoes, minced meat, peppers, really varied things,” she described of the buffet breakfast at the five-star resort.

The two-minute clip revealed a series of hot and cold food stations offering a selection of cheeses, meats, as well as several varieties of eggs, one shown with tomatoes and another with milk.

‘It’s not really good, we’re not picky or demanding, but we are food lovers.

‘When you spend almost £3,000 after a lot of hard work on a holiday and you get that amount every day, it’s really daunting.

“We are not happy at all. This is not good, it is really not good.”

The TikToker revealed a number of breakfast items stored in heat-resistant containers, seemingly disappointed with the selection.

They saw tomatoes with melted cheese, ‘random sausages’, a tray of bulgur wheat, chicken sausages and eggs with chopped tomatoes.

“It’s not what you would expect for a breakfast, it’s really not that good,” he said.

Elsewhere in the video, two large pots of steaming soup, a traditional Turkish breakfast option, are shown.

Peeking into the pots of soup, the user concluded the clip by saying, “For breakfast, guys? Nope!”

However, viewers of the video were quick to come to the breakfast buffet’s defense, slamming the TikToker for criticizing traditional menu options.

Clearly outraged, one user wrote: “Better go to Benidorm,” while another suggested Butlins, writing: “God you should have gone to Skegness.”

A third commented: “Looks great, lots of choice and different to what you have at home, just what I’d expect when I go on holiday.”

Another said: “Looks amazing! I love scrambled eggs with tomatoes. If you’re that picky, try McDonald’s.”

Commenters were quick to correct the social media user, informing her that eating soup for breakfast is common in Turkey.

One wrote: “Soup is a normal Turkish breakfast, as is menemen (scrambled eggs with tomato).”

According to Aylin Tan, author of A Taste of Sun and Fire: Gaziantep Cookery, the soup became a popular breakfast choice for poor Turks as it is cheap and easy to prepare.

The dish is now commonly served for breakfast in Turkey, along with cheeses, sesame simit bread, different types of eggs, olive pastes and fruit jams, according to Food and wine.

An example of a Turkish breakfast dish is beyran, a traditional soup using lamb; another popular choice is ezogelin, a lentil soup that remains a favorite of rural Turkish farmers, according to Diner.

Another dish that the TikToker scorned turned out to be another Turkish breakfast classic.

The offending dish of scrambled eggs and tomatoes is actually a popular breakfast staple called menemen, sometimes called Turkish omelette.

The dish usually incorporates scrambled eggs with peppers and tomatoes and other spices.

‘Mostly negative responses, which doesn’t bother me at all. A lot of people assume I want chicken nuggets and chips.

‘Ironically, on the Mexican a la carte menu they served chips and chicken nuggets, we left! As I said before, I’ve been to Turkey before and it was fantastic, this is not!!!’

John Phillips, 40, took a staggering 21 instant noodles, 86 bags of crisps, two packets of bacon, a packet of 30 sausages, tins of tuna, a block of cheese and brown sauce on his £1,400 haul last year.

And to satisfy even the pickiest of sweet tooths, his wife Rebecca, 29, added an additional 30 Club Biscuit bars, 16 candy bags and breakfast bars.

Rebecca said the extra luggage “doesn’t bother her” as she said she wouldn’t enjoy the trip if her husband didn’t eat.

The mother-of-one started packing dry food for John three years ago when he refused to eat anything but crisps during his trips abroad.
