Tripp Easton Johnston, Bristol Palin’s 15-year-old son, spent some quality time bonding with his stepmother Sunny Oglesby Johnston on Sunday, two months after texting her that he was moving to Alaska to be closer to his father Levi Johnston.
“He just texted me,” the 34-year-old recalled in Texas. Cheryl Burke Podcast on August 25.
“He says, ‘Hi mom. I’m not going back.’ Oh, I couldn’t even believe it! At first I said, ‘I’m going to Alaska, we’re not doing this!’ I was so angry. So angry.’
Bristol ‘selfishly’ wanted her ‘best friend’ to stay, but ultimately respected ‘that he thinks this is best and needs that relationship with his dad.’
“As difficult as it is for me and for my daughters as well, I know he needs to develop that relationship with his father,” Palin said.

This Monday will mark the 12th wedding anniversary of Sunny and Levi, 34.
