This comes after Simone spoke out about being an actress of Indian descent and admitted that rather than feeling pressured to represent her community, she “celebrates” it.
The beauty rose to fame in 2022 when she played feisty aristocrat Kate Sharma in Netflix’s period drama Bridgerton.
Born to Tamil Indian parents, her character was recast to also be Indian, with South Asian culture being referenced throughout the season, which was celebrated as a major step in diversity.
Appearing on the cover of the May issue of Vogue IndiaSimone talked about how it felt to represent her community.
Asked if she felt any pressure to represent Indians, she said: “Not really, because I am an actress. I am not going to travel as far as India to save the country.
“But when you look and read about the history of India and what its people have been through, it makes you feel very heavy.”
Simone said it was the “best feeling” when other women of color told her how much it meant to them to see themselves represented on screen.
She continued: “Representing Indian women has been such a joy. Ninety-nine percent of the people who recognise me and approach me are women of colour, and that’s the best feeling because they’re so excited for me.

This comes after Simone said her Bridgerton co-star Nicola Coughlan, 37, is completely focused on her job and not body criticism from online trolls.
“They hug me and tell me how great it is to see dark-skinned women on screen. It makes me feel safe and seen, and even though I might be on a street in London, I suddenly don’t feel like I’m part of a minority community.
“I know that women representing their communities in the arts can be under pressure. Maybe one day I’ll do a project where I’ll think, ‘I have to get it right. ‘ But for now, I can feel happy and celebrate it.”
Last month, Simone said her Bridgerton co-star Nicola Coughlan is completely focused on her work and not on body criticism from online trolls.
She was asked about the unpleasant feelings Nicola, 37, has faced amid her role as Penelope Featherington in the Netflix series.
Simone told reporters at the Monte Carlo Television Festival in Monaco in June that her co-star is doing well and is rising above evil.
“Yeah, haters gonna hate, and I think we can all relate to that, but I really don’t think she’s letting it bother her,” Ashley said, according to People.
Simone said Nicola “has a solid and fruitful career and a whole life ahead of him” and that she has full faith that her colleague will continue to rise.
“I believe in her so much, and so does the world,” Simone said. “I think Nicola is really cool.”
