Chrishell Stause gave the notoriously difficult Australian accent a try when she appeared on The Project on Tuesday.
He Sunset Sale The star, who landed a role in Australian soap Neighbours, was challenged by the show’s panel to say “I love The Project”.
The 43-year-old tried, but admitted she wasn’t particularly skilled at it.
‘Was ‘Terrible, but you did your promo!’ joked co-host Sarah Harris.
“I would have been fired immediately. I can’t do an Australian accent. Everyone is safe. I’m playing an American,” Chrishell explained.
Elsewhere in the interview, she mispronounced the name of Erinsborough, the fictional suburb where the soap is set.
The star called it ‘Erins-borrow’ rather than ‘Erins-burra’, as Australians are more likely to say.
The reality star fared best in Melbourne, the Victorian city where the show is filmed.

She correctly pronounced it ‘Mel-bin’ instead of ‘Mel-bourne’, as many Americans do.
“Congratulations on the way you said Melbourne!” the cast of The Project told him, genuinely impressed.
This comes after Chrishell gave fans a shocking update about her supporting role on Neighbors.
Chrishell, who recently tied the knot for the second time to Australian musician G Flip, made the surprise announcement that she would be joining the series in a recent Instagram post.
“I would have been fired immediately. I can’t do an Australian accent. Everyone is safe. I’m playing an American,” Chrishell explained.
Stause has been sharing behind-the-scenes updates from the set of Ramsay Street, including one crucial detail about her character.
She took to Instagram to answer a fan’s question about her experience on the soap opera.
Chrishell shared a screenshot of a direct message asking her about her character on the show.
“Are you playing an American in Neighbours or did you have to work on your Australian accent?” the message read.
In the screenshot, Chrishell confessed that her character shared her nationality.
“For everyone’s sake, I’m playing an American. My Australian accent needs work,” she added.
Chrishell is currently in Australia to appear in a reboot of the iconic Australian soap opera Neighbours.
Stause will be joining Ramsay Street to play a new character named Yasmine Shields. In The Project, she clarified that the character is a lighting director.
“I am honored and excited to join such a beloved and iconic show,” she revealed in a recent statement.
‘I come from the world of soap operas in the United States and I return to my first love in the entertainment industry.
“I was approached with an idea for a character and was immediately excited to figure out a way to make it happen. Here I come, Ramsay Street!”
The show said in a post on its Instagram account in May: ‘Chrishell Stause is coming to Ramsay Street’ as she will play a new character named Yasmine Shields.
The show describes Yasmine as “a glamorous and successful businesswoman looking for an exciting new opportunity.”
In The Project, he clarified that the character is a lighting director.
“He was due to arrive on set in July,” the show said, adding that “fans can expect intrigue and surprises, and plenty of implications for the residents of Ramsay Street.”
