The biopic Bob Marley: One Love dominated the domestic Valentine’s Day box office as it raked in an impressive $14 million from moviegoers.

The film, which has received a positive response from the singer’s fans, took its title from the 2012 romantic drama film The Vow, which only grossed $11.5 million during its first release period.
Bob Marley: One Love is also performing well in foreign territories, grossing a total of $5.4 million at the international box office.
The film also outperformed the Marvel Comics-based film Madame Web, which only grossed a measly $6 million in domestic theaters.

The superhero film, also starring Sydney Sweeney and Emma Roberts, is expected to gross between $25 million and $27 million over the next six days.
Possibly the obstacle to Madame Web’s box office success is the negative reviews it has garnered, as it has a disappointing 14% rating on rotten tomatoesand also has a lukewarm audience score of 56%.
Much of the criticism leveled at the film has been for its uneven script and less-than-stellar special effects.
However, Bob Marley: One Love has a rotten tomatoes score of 44% and has a much more enthusiastic audience score of 94%.
In addition to the positive reception from fans, the biographical article also has solid support, as Marley’s wife, Rita, as well as his children Ziggy and Cedella, were three of its producers.
Currently, Paramount hopes that the film will share the same fate as other biographical films, such as Elvis or Rocketman, released by the distributor in 2019.
Bob Marley: One Love premiered in the singer’s hometown of Kingston, Jamaica, last month, and is currently scheduled for release in the UK on Friday.

Ben-Adir recently spoke with Entertainment Weekly and revealed that he did not feel his singing skills were developed to a level that would allow him to accurately portray Marley at first.
“I cut off many people’s ears for many days. “Bob is not someone you can choreograph or copy, his singing and dancing comes from an internal experience,” he recalled.
The performer also talked about preparing for his starring role in Bob Marley: One Love on the set of Barbie, in which he appeared as Basketball Ken.
“There was a point where I thought we started earlier than we were, so I told Greta that once we finished the scene, she had to go back to the trailer. So I would do one take and then run to the Bob station and the transcribed,” he said.
