Selena Gomez has teamed up with Sephora to donate proceeds from her Rare Beauty line for Mental Health Day.

The pop star’s company will partner with the brand to benefit the Rare Impact Fund on October 10, for the second year in a row.

Gomez, who was recently declared a billionaire, has spoken candidly about her own struggle with bipolar disorder since her diagnosis in 2018.

“The mental health crisis continues to disproportionately impact young people and partners like Sephora are instrumental in not only believing in this mission, but contributing crucial funds to expand mental health resources for young people who need them,” he stated.

The 32-year-old singer and actress founded the Rare Impact Fund with the goal of mobilizing $100 million for organizations to increase access to youth mental health services as well as education around the world.

Rare Beauty donates one percent of its sales directly, while the fund also raises money through support from individuals, corporate partners, its community and other philanthropic organizations.

Rare Beauty’s net sales in 2023 are believed to be around $350 million.

It was recently revealed that Gomez, who founded the company in 2019, had achieved billionaire status through her cosmetics empire.

Last month it was learned that her wealth is around $1.3 billion, the “large portion” of which she earned thanks to Rare Beauty, according to Bloomberg.

The company’s CEO, Scott Friedman, hopes Mental Health Day sales can grow compared to last year.

He told WWD, “As people become more and more aware of our mission, the brand, and our partnership with Sephora, I expect that to increase this year over last year.”

Meanwhile, Sephora CEO Guillaume Motte praised Gomez for how “committed” she is to the foundation she has created.

Motte said: “I thought, ‘We have an opportunity to do something bigger than the products, to give back to the community.’ We will partner to contribute to the Rare Impact Fund.

“That’s where it all started last year. And we are very proud to continue and be even more ambitious this year.”

Gomez has long been a public advocate for greater awareness of mental health issues and has been open about her own personal experience with it.

Two years ago she starred in the Apple TV+ documentary Selena Gomez: My Mind And Me in which she said she wanted to be “proactive” in promoting mental health.

‘I’m doing things with my Rare Impact Fund. “I’m having these conversations, I’m meeting people,” he said. “I went to the White House for the mental health summit and… I want to be as proactive as possible.”

Gomez visited the White House in May 2022 and held a meeting with US President Joe Biden, First Lady Jill Biden, and Surgeon General Vivek Murthy.

In 2018, she reportedly suffered a breakdown related to her lupus and entered mental health treatment, shortly after it was revealed that her teenage boyfriend Justin Bieber was engaged to his now-wife Hailey Bieber.
