The woman who married into a billionaire family and tried to bully a stranger into giving her his Instagram account is attempting to rebrand herself as a lifestyle vlogger.

Katherine Asplundh was busy flaunting her wealth on TikTok in her first summer as the wife of Pennsylvania billionaire Cabot Asplundh, 27, whom she married in April with an extravagant reception in Palm Beach, Florida.

After marrying her husband (whose family is worth at least $3 billion thanks to their successful tree-trimming business), she set out to get the Instagram username she wanted from an Instagram user who shared Katherine’s married name.

She pressured the woman to hand over her username and the resulting backlash forced her to temporarily deactivate her Instagram.

But just weeks after the drama, Katherine appears unscathed by the entitlement allegations, happily showing off her glamorous lifestyle in daily TikTok vlogs.

More mundane tasks followed, like doing laundry and making dinner, but the video ended with a visit to a frozen yogurt shop.

Her TikTok account has around 90,000 followers, but interest in the billionaire girlfriend’s exploits has dropped dramatically in recent months.

Before early July, Katherine’s posts frequently garnered hundreds of thousands of views.

Now, a video of yours will be lucky if it reaches 20,000 views.

A video The post he made in July 2023 cataloging his move with Cabot from New York City to the country was particularly poorly received.

In a voiceover, she said she was leaving the city “to become a country girl like I was always supposed to be,” adding that the only thing she actually brought with her on the move were her “sweatshirts.”

“Ah, to be rich!” wrote another.

Katherine and Cabot met in Prague while she was studying abroad and connected during their childhood on the Jersey Shore.

Two years later, Cabot proposed to her in Mantoloking, New Jersey.

Their star-studded romance culminated in controversy that severely damaged Katherine’s online reputation.

Katherine contacted the owner of the @katherineasplundh account, a woman who goes by Kate, to ask if she could buy her username. Buying usernames is a practice that directly violates the platform’s terms of service.

Kate refused, explaining that she feared selling her username would lead to her being “banned from Instagram,” but this prompted Katherine to release a series of seemingly pretentious messages.

Kate then shared screenshots of the alleged exchange on Reddit, where she left users outraged.

The leaked DMs inspired people to take Kate’s side, with many creating dozens of fake accounts with different spellings of the billionaire’s wife’s name.

This meant that all possible username options that included her maiden or married name were already taken.

Katherine caved in to this pressure and deleted her Instagram account, which at the time had 14,600 followers. She reopened it in June under her old username, @katherinedrisc, created using her maiden name, Katherine Driscoll.

By reaching out to the woman known only as Kate, who shared the messages on social media, the newlywed unintentionally went viral.

It appears she has resigned herself to using her old name on Instagram, keeping it in the months following the initial drama.

She doesn’t seem to have benefited in terms of exposure from the username fiasco either, having now only amassed a little over 15,300 followers on Instagram.

Katherine found herself in further trouble when internet users dug up an old TikTok of hers mocking new wives who can’t wait to update their social media handle, accusing her of being a hypocrite.

“Something that kinda bothers me is when girls get married and it hasn’t even been 10 minutes since they said their vows and they’re like, ‘Oh! I’m going to go on my Instagram! Let me just change my last name already,'” Katherine said in the now-deleted post.

He then says he’ll “probably wait a couple of months” to change his name.

“I think it’s a bit of a stretch to see girls changing before they even know they’re married, like they’re all settled,” Katherine explained wryly.
