Bill Maher has suggested President Joe Biden consider replacing his current Vice President Kamala Harris with either Nikki Haley or Republican Senator Mitt Romney in an attempt to bridge the political divide.
Maher suggested that if Biden were to pursue such an unconventional idea, it would likely result in electoral victory for Democrats, as GOP members would run on a unity ticket.
‘I know it’s crazy to think she could run with Biden, but that’s my dream, a unity ticket. And then he would, I think, definitely win,’ suggested Maher.
Speaking during a panel discussion on HBO’s Real Time, Maher acknowledged the scenario was extremely unlikely with Harris almost certain to be Biden’s running mate.

Maher also acknowledged Haley’s controversial and “crazy” statements, such as her claim that America has “never been a racist country.”
“Obviously she’s said some crazy things. Most politicians aren’t as crazy as, ‘We’ve never been a racist country.’ I mean, that’s pretty crazy,” Maher said.
In response to concerns about removing Harris, the first African-American vice president from the Democratic ticket, Maher pointed out that Haley is also a woman of color.
At the panel, journalist Tara Palmeri raised concerns about potentially alienating the core of the Democratic Party, which includes black women.
‘You would literally destroy the Democratic base. Take the first African-American vice president off the ticket?’ asked Palmeri.
“She’s a woman of color,” Maher responded — referring to Haley.
“But black women are the core of the Democratic Party,” Palmeri pushed back.
The vice president has continued to struggle to demonstrate her competence after a series of political missteps and awkward moments during her first three years.
Harris’ approval ratings are even lower than Biden’s, with a recent NBC News poll showing her with just a 28 percent approval rating.
She has largely abdicated her responsibility for the border crises and the root causes of migration, choosing instead to blame Congress for not passing immigration reform.
Harris also routinely faces ridicule for her awkward ‘word salad’ speeches that often spiral out of control, burdened by a plethora of dependent clauses.
Maher suggested Utah Sen. Mitt Romney might also be another potential candidate with the goal of fostering a more inclusive political environment.

“Something to get to so we don’t live in this world where everybody sees the other side as an existential threat,” Maher said.
Maher has proposed removing Harris from the October 2022 vice presidential ticket.
‘What I could see is replacing the vice president because she’s just not very popular anywhere. And it didn’t seem to work. And I don’t know, it’s been done before on a ticket,” Maher suggested to applause from his liberal audience.
Last week, Maher called on Biden to step aside from the race, noting that such a move would ensure a victory for the Democrats.
“If Biden drops out, the Democrats will win,” Maher said. ‘Undoubtedly.’
Haley suspended her presidential campaign this week after a disappointing Super Tuesday turnout.
She has so far refrained from throwing her support behind former President Trump, the only Republican running for the nomination, despite signing the RNC pledge to support the eventual nominee.

‘It is now up to Donald Trump to earn the votes of those in our party and beyond who did not support him. And I hope he does,’ Haley said Wednesday.
‘At its best, politics is about bringing people into your cause, not turning them away. And our conservative cause badly needs more people. It is now his time to choose.’
Both Five thirty eight and RealClearPolitics show that Trump leads Biden in the majority of recent national polls about the 2024 presidential election.
The New York Times/Siena College poll has Trump leading Biden 48 percent to 43 percent as of March 2. And a recent CBS News poll had Trump leading Biden 52 percent to 48 percent.
After the GOP primaries held on Super Tuesday, Trump is now the last major Republican candidate standing and poised to be the party’s nominee for a third term.

There may not be a more contentious state than Georgia, which swung for Biden in the 2020 election and was central to Trump’s false claims that he was the victim of widespread voter fraud.
He faces criminal charges in the state for his attempts to interfere in the vote count there.
