Beautiful already! Eco warriors are more attractive than men who don’t care about the planet, studies show

  • Environmentally conscious men seem more attractive than those who shop conventionally
  • Psychologists said women even thought “green” men were more reliable
  • Researchers from the University of Groningen spoke with 483 participants

There was a time when the romantic allure of the eco-male warrior was not very high.

They probably didn’t have a car, hygiene may not have been the first concern and as for their shoes – it’s doubtful they were the best leather.

Today, however, we don’t have to deny ourselves that we’re green, and so a study found that environmentally conscious men actually seem more attractive than those who shop conventionally.

Researchers from the University of Groningen showed 483 participants photos of 12 people and told them they had bought products, such as a car, shoes or a dishwasher, that were green or normal. Pictured, an electric car

The participants then rated the people as potential partners and were also asked about their own attitudes towards sex.

Lead researcher Gonzalo Palomo-Velez pointed out that there was no link between being ‘more sexually restricted’ and preferring green products.
