Baseball fans were less than welcoming toward Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift after the power couple graced Yankee Stadium for Game 1 of the American League Championship Series between the Yankees and Guardians.
Swift has become a regular fixture at Chiefs games while supporting her boyfriend. While some have been excited by her presence, other fans have grown tired of the time she spends on screen during broadcasts.
After the MLB Twitter account featured a video of the pair, fans of America’s favorite pastime shot down the idea with their comments.
“In football they already appear enough on television, we don’t need them here either,” wrote one fan.
“I try to (increase) those ratings I see,” wrote a second.
MLB fans insisted Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce should ‘stick to football’ during the American League Championship Series.
‘Is MLB that desperate for ratings? I guess so,” chimed in a third. “It’s stupid, I’ll change the channel. I’ve been watching the ALCS game until now.”
“I was wondering why everyone was booing,” added a fourth.
More fans filled the comments section with apathy towards his presence with ‘who cares’ and ‘shut up’ echoing the responses.
Meanwhile, other fans called out Swift and Kelce for being disloyal for showing up to a Yankees game. One fan pointed out that Kelce, an Ohio native, was not making his Guardians fandom known in enemy territory.
“He’s supposed to be a Guardians fan,” the fan wrote. ‘What the hell selling out’.
“Kelce at a Yankees playoff game when the Yankees eliminated the Kansas City Royals,” wrote another.
After the MLB Twitter account posted the pairing, fans declared their opposition and apathy.
Another called a foul on Swift and wrote: ‘Isn’t she a Phillies fan?’ What is she doing?
The Guardians defeated the Detroit Lions in five games to advance to the American League finals. On the other hand, the Yankees beat Kansas City in four games.
The winner of the American League Championship Series will face the winner between the Dodgers and Mets on the opposite end of the draw.
