Australian Ninja Warrior’s fifth season premiere date has been revealed – after it was announced that Nick Kyrgios has joined the cast as a sideline commentator

Channel Nine has confirmed that the Australian Ninja Warrior will return on Sunday, June 20.

This year’s course features 26 new obstacles, including the Underwater Escape and the Dragon Back.

For the first time, participants can choose their own path to the Warped Wall, which is now 10 centimeters higher.

Tennis bad boy Nick Kyrgios will also join the cast of the upcoming season of Australian Ninja Warrior.

The 26-year-old will join hosts Rebecca Maddern, Ben Fordham and Shane Crawford as a commentator on the sidelines.

A promo video for the Channel 9 game show showed Nick commenting.

Kyrgios was portrayed as ‘Australia’s most exciting tennis superstar’, the trailer began, featuring images on the court of the world’s 56th ranked men’s player.

“Now Nick Kyrgios joins the amazing new team at the Ninja of Australia,” said the voiceover, who showed the Canberran alongside co-stars Fordham, Maddern and Crawford.

Kyrgios and Crawford appear to be sharing side jobs this year, after the former AFL star took over from former cricketer Freddie Flintoff.

The course was teased as the toughest of all time with obstacles, now including underwater challenges to conquer Mt Midoriyama.

In the teaser, it also looked like competitors would go head to head in challenges as well.

Stars of the series Jack ‘Deadly Ninja’ Wilson and Ashlin ‘Flashlin’ Herbert race against each other on the track. Olivia Vivian will also return.
