A farmer has been jailed for more than three years for raping a British backpacker who was working on his land as part of her visa.
Wayne Robert Green was found guilty on Thursday of rape and inciting a sexual act by intimidation following a three-day trial in the Kingaroy District Court in Queensland. He was found not guilty of assault.
The 53-year-old denied the charges.
The father-of-three knew his victim had no money and wanted to stay in Australia on his visa, Judge Glen Cash said. South Burnett Times reported.

“You took advantage of that position,” Judge Cash said.
“There was no real consent on her part. This has caused problems in her relationships and fear of men.
The court heard how Green raped the woman while working on his farm in Mondure for two weeks as part of his working holiday visa.
He needed to complete 88 days of agricultural work to extend his visa and found Green’s advert offering work on Gumtree.
The woman’s prosecutor, Christa Nicola, had previously told the court how the woman came home from the pub one night and Green would “pay her” for oral sex.
“She was worried he would rape her if she didn’t comply,” Mrs Nicola said, adding that the woman only had four dollars to her name at the time.
The man was naked at the time and the victim was intoxicated.
“She felt like she had no choice. “He laid her on the sofa, she was naked, he was naked, he was touching himself… at some point she had her penis in her mouth,” Mrs Nicola said.
‘He said the words “suck my cock, slut” and was aggressive and pushed her head down.
The court heard how Green raped the woman while working on his farm in Mondure for two weeks as part of his working holiday visa.
In another incident, Green allegedly touched the woman’s breasts without her consent while she was in a truck with Green and a farm worker.
But the other man told the court he did not see Green touch her breasts during the trip.
“There was a time when we were all drunk and she was showing off cars with her breasts,” the witness said. “He was flirting with her, he could have touched her breasts.”
He also said he may have “sucked her breast” during the trip, that he was friends with the woman and slept with her a couple of times.
The man said the backpacker had talked to him about having oral sex with Green, but “he didn’t really ask any questions about it.”
However, three other witnesses told the court that the British woman told them she had been sexually assaulted by Green, with one of them saying “it was the worst moment of her life.”
Two witnesses said the victim said Green had a “no doors policy” at the house, walked around naked and sometimes went to the bathroom while showering.
This made her feel uncomfortable and She was afraid to be there alone with him, a witness said.
