An Australian tourist has been found dead in Kazakhstan after disappearing for three days.
Jake Michael Herd, 27, was found dead near Big Almaty Lake, in the Tian Shan Mountains, at an altitude of about 2,500 meters, according to local authorities.
Herd had been missing for three days since the disappearance on Sunday.
He was last seen leaving his hostel to hike through the mountainous area.
Rescue workers said they found his body along with all of his personal belongings, indicating he did not die accidentally.
Mr. Herd would have fallen before he died.
He is said to have arrived in Kazakhstan last weekend and planned to leave on Monday.
