A man was allegedly assaulted and his mother almost run over after he tried to sell his Ford Falcon on Facebook Marketplace.
The 20-year-old man was allegedly punched and kicked in a car park on Siganto Drive, near Westfield Helensvale on Queensland’s Gold Coast, about 6pm on Sunday.
The man had arranged for his mother to drive him home after arranging to meet the online buyer of his gray Ford Falcon.
The sale quickly turned ugly when five teenagers arrived in a white Holden ute and threatened to assault the man if he did not hand over the keys.
When he tried to flee the car park he was caught by the group who allegedly punched and kicked him before driving away in their Ford Falcon.
On CCTV in the car park, the man’s mother was seen desperately trying to stop the group by blocking the Holden van with her body.
‘I need police now! Damn, she can be heard screaming as they walk away.
Queensland Police Superintendent Scott Knowles said the man’s mother had managed to take a photograph of the ute’s license plates amid the chaos.
