Western United star Noah Botic is in great form having returned three assists and a goal in his last two appearances for the club.
The rising star produced a hat-trick of assists during his team’s 3-1 win against Perth Glory last week before returning on Sunday to put the ball in the back of the net against rivals Melbourne Victory in the Westgate Derby.
It was an impressive shot too, with the 22-year-old centre-forward receiving a long pass inside a congested Victory penalty area, before turning and firing the ball into the back of the opposition net.
It was his first goal of the season, having made six appearances for United during the current league campaign, and his celebration was perhaps as excellent as the goal.
After jumping high into the air, he hugged several members of his team, before hilariously becoming the latest athlete to take part in the ‘Donald Trump dance’ trend.
NFL players Calvin Ridley and Za’Darius Smith performed the move, while soccer star Christian Pulisic also got in on the act.
Western United star Noah Botic (fifth from right) has become the latest athlete to perform the viral ‘Donald Trump Dance’.
Botic scored a stunning goal in United’s 3-1 defeat to Melbourne Victory on Sunday afternoon, before dancing like the US president-elect in celebration.
British golfer Charley Hull has also been seen on the course dancing.
The dance has been popularized by the president-elect of the United States, who, throughout his campaign, has performed the humorous boogey in which Trump clenches his fists and moves his arms from side to side.
Botic, a native of New South Wales, joined United from Hoffenheim in 2021.
He has represented Australia in the U23 and U17 categories.
Despite their celebrations, Botic’s side have had a difficult start to the new campaign, with United currently tenth in the league, having won just one of their previous five matches.
Zinedine Machach put Melbourne Victory 1-0 up after eight minutes, before Botic leveled the score just 10 minutes later.
Melbourne, who have only lost once this season, went one step further in the second half, with Nikos Vergos and Bruno Fornaroli finding the back of the net to seal the 3-1 victory.
