Arsenal have confirmed the launch of their new home kit, with the club crest replaced by a cannon for the first time since the 1989-90 season.

The club unveiled the strip this Thursday morning, calling the upcoming season ‘the year of the cannon’, in a short video explaining the relationship between the machinery and the club.

In the video a narration is heard that says: ‘Some things never leave us, wherever we go. Our cannon, our compass, guiding us forward as one. Over and over again.’

The stripe is naturally red, with white sleeves with blue stripes on the arms. The logo, manufacturer and sponsor are all white, although the Gunners will have to see what color the Premier League logo on the sleeve will be as the title race reaches the final day.

Rival supporters had previously mocked the look of the uniform, arguing that the main part of the strip had a “little bottle design in the middle”.
