A tweet that Ariana Grande posted 13 years ago expressing her desire to play the role of Glinda the Good from Wicked has resurfaced in a very sweet coming full circle moment.

The 31-year-old singer, who was set to receive an Oscar nomination for her performance as Galinda Upland in the new film Wicked, took to Twitter more than a decade ago to tell her fans it was her dream role.

During an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in June, the pop star opened up about landing the role in the hit movie and how she had to keep it a secret.

Jimmy, 50, couldn’t resist mentioning Ariana’s December 2011 tweet and showed off a printout of it.

“I’m very happy for you. By the way, I found a tweet you posted in 2011,” he told her, before reading her post.

The tweet read: ‘Loved watching Wicked again… amazing production! It made me realize again how much I want to play Glinda at some point in my life! #DreamPaper.’

As the live studio audience applauded, Jimmy told Ariana, “You did it, come on!” as the singer smiled and responded, ‘That’s so sweet.’

Speaking about her involvement in the film, Ariana told Jimmy: “It’s so surreal to see, of course, the response.” You know, this is something that Cynthia and I live every day.

“The brilliant Cynthia Erivo,” she added, referring to her co-star who plays the role of Elphaba Thropp, a misunderstood young woman born with green skin who becomes the Wicked Witch of the West.

The throwback tweet comes after Ariana shared a rare PDA photo with her boyfriend Ethan Slater as they continue to bask in the box office success of Wicked.

In the snap, Ariana is seen hugging Ethan, 32, who plays Boq, in a candid photo with Fiyero star Jonathan Bailey.

Although the trio could only be seen from behind, Ariana looked smitten with her boyfriend as she caressed him.

The star also showed off some candid behind-the-scenes moments, including sharing a kiss with Jonathan, 36, and posing in extravagant outfits.

Ariana and Ethan met on the set of Wicked, but have kept their romance a secret since they got together.

Ethan recently shared his thoughts on the candid interviews the pop star has been giving alongside his Wicked co-star Cynthia in the lead-up to the film’s highly anticipated release.

Ariana and Cynthia have been showing off the deep bond they formed during production, sometimes even holding hands and shedding tears during interviews.

Speaking on SiriusXM Hits 1 last week, Ethan said: ‘They wear their hearts on their sleeves, you know? His ability to be so connected to his emotions in this way allows his characters to be very complicated and nuanced.’

She went on to explain how she feels about her performances: “And I love this Glinda who’s trying to figure out how to be a good person, and I love this Elphaba who’s trying to figure out how to fit in. They’re so deeply connected to these women’s journeys.” .’

Ethan said he believes this emotional depth is what makes his interviews so moving, saying, “Wicked is a lot of fun, but Cynthia and Ariana are, you know, holding hands and crying.

But I think it’s because both things are true. “Both exist,” he added.
