Ariana recalled, “We had talked about it for years and years and years, but finally confessing to him that I wanted to play Glinda was something completely different.

But I finally confessed to her and said, “Hey, I think they’re doing this now and I think I want to go get Glinda,” and she went into the bathroom and closed the door and started crying.

‘It was the sweetest thing in the world. Oh my god, it excites me.

‘It was so nice.

“She was like, ‘I was hoping this would happen.’ I love you and trust you, little one.

“She told me, ‘Just do your thing. Just do your thing. You are so funny and you have great instincts and no one knows it. You’re going to attack them through the back door.’ And I said, ‘Okay.’

Wicked, directed by Jon M. Chu, is about an unlikely friendship that develops between Elphaba (Erivo) and Glinda (Grande), two warring witches in the magical land of Oz.

Elphaba is wrongly portrayed as an evil witch as she seeks to expose the fraudulent and corrupt wizard who rules the land.

Wicked is the origin story of “a green-skinned woman who becomes the Wicked Witch of the West.”

Serving as a prequel to The Wizard of Oz, it explores the narrative before Dorothy’s arrival and delves into the ancient friendship between the characters Elphaba and Glinda.

The first premiere of Wicked will take place in Sydney, Australia on Sunday, November 3.

The film is scheduled to hit theaters on November 27, and will be followed by a direct sequel, Wicked Part Two, a year later.
