Messi, who has 180 caps and 106 goals for Argentina, has led Miami to the top of the MLS Eastern Conference.

He returned to Miami’s lineup for this weekend’s win over DC United after missing Wednesday’s game against Florida rivals Orlando due to knee soreness.

The 36-year-old scored 10 goals and recorded nine assists in 10 MLS games this season, adding another two goals and two assists in three appearances in the CONCACAF Champions Cup.

He led Argentina to glory in the 2021 Copa América and Scaloni’s team is the favorite to win the tournament, which takes place in the United States between June 20 and July 14.
