After ARC Raiders was pushed back from 2022 to this year, developer Embark Studios just confirmed that the game has shifted from a cooperative PvP game to a PvPvE game focused on survival and shooter elements.
RC Raiders executive producer Aleksander Grøndal told Medium.com that sign-up for this summer’s Closed Alpha test is now available on Steam.
“ARC Raiders places players in a deadly yet stunningly beautiful futuristic land, with exciting moments of survival and suspense. Human vs. machine, human vs. human, alone or together, you’re up against the sometimes conflicting nature of your humanity,” said the producer.
The producer then talked about what this shift from a co-op PvE game to a PvPvE game focused on survival and shooter elements.
People have fled to the underground colony of Esperanza, in search of supplies to survive and shelter from the machines. Demand for resources is at an all-time high. But getting these resources is risky business, and not for everyone. But they are important to Yours. That is why you were conscripted as a raider in search of supplies.”
“You have to fight for your spoils, deadly ARC machines roam the surface. There are no rules in Calabreta, so beware of other invaders. Because trust is hard, you need to earn resources. So don’t come back from a mission empty-handed.”
ARC Raiders were unveiled at The Game Awards 2021 by former DICE developers with experience of Battlefield and Star Wars: Battlefront games.
