- He is in a coma in a Bangkok hospital.
An Australian man is fighting for his life in Thailand after being involved in a horrific motorcycle accident.
Anthonie Trejo, 34, from Melbourne, was travelling through a rural area of the Southeast Asian country earlier this week when he was seriously injured in a crash.
He was taken to a local hospital before being transferred to a facility in Bangkok, where he remains in a coma.
‘At this moment he has his left leg amputated, a punctured lung in which they found 6-7 pieces of metal, other bone fractures and internal bleeding,’ wrote a friend on Facebook.
“He is on a respirator. They don’t yet know if he has suffered any brain damage, as he is too fragile to undergo a CT scan.”
TO GoFundMe It was created to help him return home and support his family, who have traveled to the Southeast Asian country to be by his side.
The fundraising campaign has so far raised more than $50,000 of its $100,000 goal since its launch on Wednesday.
“Anthonie will require some invasive procedures to save his life due to complications. These procedures will, understandably, come at a cost,” it reads.
