It is not the first time this season that Jurgen Klopp will anxiously await the return of Scotland’s Andy Robertson.

Robertson suffered what appeared to be an ankle injury during Tuesday night’s loss to Northern Ireland in Glasgow.

The Scotland captain required treatment after a challenge from Trai Hume and attempted to continue, but soon after sprained the same ankle in another collision.

He immediately signaled to the bench and limped off in the 36th minute looking completely dejected.

Klopp will be keen to assess him on Merseyside but Robertson will be a doubt for Sunday’s Premier League match against Brighton.

Andy Robertson went off and was seen holding his ankle in pain as Scotland faced Northern Ireland.

Scotland manager Steve Clarke consoled Robertson as he walked away looking disappointed.

He missed three months of this season when he injured his shoulder in an international match against Spain in October and required surgery.

Liverpool are chasing the Premier League and Europa League titles before Scotland head to Euro 2024 in Germany.

His Anfield team-mate Conor Bradley scored the only goal of the game at Hampden Park with the help of a slight deflection, his first for Northern Ireland.

This is his second knock of the season after he was ruled out between October and January following a clash with Spanish goalkeeper Unai Simón in a Euro 2024 qualifying match.

Jurgen Klopp has been forced to improve this season due to a spate of injuries.

Kostas Tsimikas initially replaced Robertson when he was absent, but Joe Gomez filled in at left-back when the Greek international was injured.

It has been an unusually difficult season for Robertson, who has spent most of his seasons at Liverpool without problems.

He played at least 43 games in the last five seasons before this one, demonstrating his fitness and consistency.

Robertson has already missed three months of the season following shoulder surgery in October

Shoulder surgery has meant he has missed 21 games this campaign and he will be desperate not to miss any more.

Liverpool have already taken the Carabao Cup and could add another Premier League and Europa League title to their haul in Jurgen Klopp’s final season.

Their next game will be at home against Brighton on Sunday, but eight games await them in a packed April, including Premier League tests against Manchester United and Everton.

They will also play both legs of the Europa League quarterfinals against Atalanta in the middle of the month.
