With confirmation that Tom Holland will return in a fourth Marvel Studios Spider-Man film, rumors have begun to surface that Andrew Garfield could join him.
Garfield, 41, played Peter Parker in 2012’s The Amazing Spider-Man and the 2014 sequel, The Amazing Spider-Man 2.
He also joined his predecessor Tobey Maguire and Holland in 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home, which explained that Maguire and Garfield’s versions of Peter Parker exist on different planets in the Marvel Cinematic Universe multiverse.
Now that the link between the entire Spider-Man franchise has been established, fans have been wondering if they will be able to return in this upcoming sequel.
During an extensive cover interview with GQ, Garfield did his best to quell rumors of his return.
However, he’s well aware that most may not believe him… since he, in fact, lied about returning to No Way Home for years before the film’s release.

‘I’m going to let you down. But. But I know that no one is going to trust anything I say from now on,” he said.
Still, the actor wouldn’t be averse to returning to a big superhero or similar studio franchise in the future.
‘If it felt in line with my soul and was fun. Maybe I’ll have like five kids at some point and I’ll have to start saving for school tuition or something,’ Garfield joked.
He also denied the rumor that he was going to play Jesus in a Martin Scorsese film, adding: “There was a rumor.” It’s not true, as far as I know.
‘I also like to work. “You can’t just keep waiting for Scorsese to call, because he makes a movie every three years and a lot of times Leo DiCaprio is in it,” he admitted.
Garfield admitted in October that he was “really scared” by all the attention he received after taking on the role of Peter Parker/Spider-Man.
She decided to counter her fame by making some pretty drastic changes to her life, including her appearance.
‘With the whole Spider-Man thing, I had kind of an allergic response. I was like, ‘I know in some ways I’m not ready for this. I know I’m not ready for this level of scrutiny,'” he admitted.
‘I’m going to let you down. But. But I know that no one is going to trust anything I say from now on,” he said.
Still, the actor wouldn’t be averse to returning with a big superhero or similar studio franchise in the future.
He also denied the rumor that he was going to play Jesus in a Martin Scorsese film, adding: “There was a rumor.” It’s not true that I know of.
“So I’m going to grow a really shitty beard, wear really shitty clothes, and chase the paparazzi and try to talk to them,” he said.
He even admitted to asking some of the photographers, ‘Why are you doing this?’ during their meetings.
Garfield returned to the big screen after a three-year hiatus last year with his critically acclaimed film We Live In Time with Florence Pugh.
He also has Luca Guadagnino’s After The Hunt in post-production, alongside Julia Roberts and Ayo Edibiri.
