An Australian man has sparked backlash after filming himself confronting a parking inspector and calling him a foul name.
Calum Fentie posted the footage on TikTok on Friday showing him approaching the inspector, who works for the Northern Beaches Council, in Sydney.
The video, which has since been removed from the social media platform and shared elsewhere, showed Mr Fentie asking the inspector what he was doing.
The inspector explained that he was issuing a ticket for a van that was not owned by Mr Fentie as the vehicle had no parking permit or ticket.
“Did you wake up one day and say, ‘Am I going to become the biggest idiot in the world?’ Mr. Fentie asked.
The confused inspector said it was “none of his business” before leaving to continue his work.
The footage was shared on social media platform X, where Australians were quick to criticize Mr Fentie.
One described Mr Fentie as an “A-grade peanut” and praised the inspector for behaving “wonderfully”.
The video, which has since been removed from the social media platform and shared elsewhere, showed Mr Fentie asking the inspector what he was doing.
“The guy is just doing his job, the cameraman isn’t just intimidating people,” a second wrote.
“Parking inspectors have the highest abuse rates of any workplace,” a third wrote.
“Leave the poor guy alone, he’ll have to make ends meet somehow.”
“If the ticket and fine are not legal, you or they can challenge it, but abusing the person for doing their job, trying to provoke them while a camera is in their face is considered jerk behavior,” said a fourth. .
A fifth noted that Mr Fentie was “a little harsh” on the parking inspector despite the general opinion of those who take on the role.
“Some parking inspectors like the power trip, but I’m sure most just needed a job and would happily invest it in something better if they had the chance,” they wrote.
‘What an absolute whore. “If you park illegally you get fined, it’s pretty simple,” said a sixth.
Fentie fired back, saying he “didn’t expect” the negativity and claimed the images were “just a joke.”
Australians have lashed out at Sydney man Callum Fentie (pictured) after he approached a parking inspector and called him an “idiot” in a video posted on social media.
In a video published on tiktok On Saturday, he described those directing their “hatred” toward him as “pro-vax people… who are just pro-government.”
‘If he was that worried about being called an asshole, do you know what he would have done? “I wouldn’t have gotten a job as a parking inspector,” Mr Fentie said.
‘If I got a job as a parking inspector I would 100 per cent expect people to come up to me and call me that, but like I said before, it was literally all for a bit of a laugh.
“I just thought it would be funny to call him an asshole because he’s funny, and he is.”
He then went on a tirade against the government, saying Australians pay for registration, insurance, parking and are fined if they don’t.
“You guys should complain about us getting tickets for parking,” he said.
Fentie said the haters had inspired him to find more parking inspectors and make a series of similar videos.
“Just for you, I’m going to go out and find more parking inspectors to call assholes, so you can write more hateful comments,” he said.
